Following on from her win in 2011 as BABTAC’s Beauty Therapist of the Year, Katie was over the moon to scoop Salon of the Year 2013 for Totality Day Spa!
This is a prestigious, national award open to hundreds of entrants from all of the UK. For Katie and the team to win this is wonderful accolade to their hard work and determination!
BABTAC are the British Association of Beauty Therapy and Cosmetology.
Established in Gloucester in 1977, BABTAC are the premier UK association for beauty, as well as one of the longest standing and influential bodies for Beauty and Holistic Therapies. They work ‘not for profit’ so their main concerns are the well-being of their Members, regulation of the industry and public welfare. Headed by a Council of industry professionals, they also offer unrivaled beauty expertise, a rigorous ethical code and a professional practice standard.

“One of the things that really impressed the judges was the way that the whole team were behind the application, you really got the feeling that everyone at the salon cared deeply about the business and delivering excellence for all your clients. There was also feedback that you were very welcoming, and visitors would feel part of the ‘community’ thanks to your noticeboard - this theme of how much all staff would put clients at ease kept coming across.
Judges were impressed that the therapist seen by the mystery shopper gave excellent advice, tailoring the treatment to suit her needs. She was also impressed that the receptionist who took the booking also knew a lot about therapies, and gave advice on appropriate treatments.
Your marketing plan demonstrated your resilience - we were impressed at the way you were taking on the recession. The presentation of all your materials was outstanding.
Finally, you did incredibly well in the public vote. We had a record number of votes this year, and all the finalists were working hard to get their customers voting, so you should take this as a huge compliment that you really motivated your clients to support you.”

Katie's newly created, soon to be launched 'Signature Goddess Therapy' put her one step ahead of the other entrants. She wowed the judges with her knowledge, professional care of her clients and her innovative ideas in creating new treatments. Her treatment plan and performance were 'outstanding' , and her desire to ensure her clients looked and felt their best gave her the winning touch.
